How Origin Flipped Everyday Movie Rewards Into an Australian Premiere Experience

When The Walt Disney Company came to Choovie Group with the chance to be part of the Australian premiere of Disney’s Freakier Friday, we knew exactly who would make the most of it. Origin Energy, one of our valued movie rewards clients, was looking for fresh ways to delight their customers and this was the perfect fit.

Origin took the opportunity and ran with it, building a standout campaign around the film’s release. The centrepiece was a competition giving one lucky customer a double pass to the Sydney premiere, complete with flights and accommodation..

To enter, customers followed Origin Energy on Instagram, tagged their chosen guest, and in fifty words or less shared who in their family they’d like to body swap with and why. The fun, nostalgic question brought out plenty of heartfelt and creative entries.

To get even more people involved, Origin worked with influencer Emily Kristopher, who put her own playful spin on the film's key theme - a body swap idea. She shared examples from an older cousin’s punk-rock phase to a sibling’s first flip phone, and reminded followers that even if they didn’t win, Origin Rewards customers could still score discounted cinema tickets through Origin Rewards Movies.

The campaign also included rewards beyond the grand prize. Five runners-up received double movie passes for a night out, giving more customers the chance to enjoy the magic of the movies.

Disney’s Freakier Friday Australian Premiere Event

On premiere night, the winning customer and her guest were flown to Sydney before stepping onto the purple carpet at Event Cinemas Bondi Junction. They joined stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan plus surprise guest Tyra Banks for an unbelievable and unforgettable first look at Disney’s Freakier Friday.

This was a campaign that combined Origin’s creativity and customer focus with Disney’s ability to deliver world-class experiences. We’re proud to have played a part in connecting the two, and even prouder to see Origin customers walk away with movie memories they’ll treasure.
